I suffered a male on male sexual assault in the Coast Guard. I haven't slept in non-private quarters since then without a knife under my pillow or within easy reach.

** See Disclaimer Below **

I was an FN and suffered male on male sexual assault. In a 6 man berthing, I couldn't roll over in my bunk without whacking my shoulder on the rack above me. Another FN came in drunk and climbed on top of me, then started dry humping me. (He was clothed and above my sheets. I had shorts on, maybe a t-shirt? I don't recall.)

The next morning when I reported it, I got the classic "but do you really want to sink his career" bullshit. I told them if it happened again, I would stick a knife in his ribs. I haven't slept in non-private quarters since without a knife under my pillow or in easy reach.

I want him to starve himself. I want his parents to watch him turn into someone they can’t recognize. I want him to beg God for the pain to stop, and to never be heard—to feel what I feel every day.

The Coast Guard sends some people home broken. A sexual assault leaves a never ending war in a person’s core, and you become a prisoner in your own mind. I’d never let my daughter serve.
