Our CG issues are more than just Sexual Assault.
It's harassment, retaliation, discrimination, and bullying too.
Here's my share, thanks for trying to help the CG change!
Happy to share the disrespect I've experienced in the CG as a now retired LTJG.
"Who's afraid of little ole me... you should be..."
[NAME REDACTED] Sexually Harassed (SH'd) me for almost a year before I finally confronted him with a list of dates/sexually harassing/inappropriate things said/etc, asking him to stop and be professional. His reason was "I was preparing you for officer life - I'm surprised it took you this long to speak up - I was just kidding" (I was actively submitting for OCS). Then he hid my OCS package from the command after I called him out on retaliation. Because of him, I started the Coast Guard's only OCS Mentorship program, removing chain of command members from the OCS application process back in 2011. He is a terrible example of a leader and I hope he sees this. His actions were done in front of others and my then YN1 also SH'd me because the Chief set the tone... unacceptable.
[NAME REDACTED]: Let my subordinate run the office, make the calls, attend command meetings/trainings I should have been in as the office lead. I confronted him and his response was "well it's because you're a woman and the guys aren't going to listen to you" with a chuckle in his voice. The command didn't hold him accountable and it's a shame he is still leading someone somewhere...hopefully never another woman.
